3rd Annual Poland & CEE Structured Products Forum
Many thanks must be given to our co-hosts, the Warsaw Stock Exchange, for the opportunity to hold this event in their beautiful venue. We would also like to thank our event sponsors and exhibitors: S&P Indices, ETF Securities, iShares BlackRock, and Raiffeisen Centrobank AG.
This event provided heated debate regarding the latest developments and key challenges within the Structured Products market, as well as the additional focus this year on the wider ETP market. Despite the gloomy weather - which was of course a comical theme used by many a speaker throughout the day, this event was a resounding success. With detailed reviews discussing latest regulation, how to structure profitable products, new products and trading platforms available, and the importance of communicating risk and maximising returns.
Chaired by Mr Jerzy Dzieza (AGH University) and opened by Izabela Olszewska, (Warsaw Stock Exchange), the event proceeded to review the latest regulatory challenges and how this has been received by those in the market. Mr Andrzej Stosio and Jakub Wieczorek (Clifford Chance) provided a much appreciated legislative update; whilst Mr Thomas Wulf (EUSIPA) shared his experiences from the greater EU, and Mr Bernd Henseler (S&P Indices) highlighted further comparisons between the East and West.
After an animated networking coffee break, the day moved swiftly on with discussions focusing on how to structure profitable products given by Tomas Hochmeister (Societe Generale), Bernhard Wenger (ETF Securities), and Przemyslaw Guberow (Open Life, Getin Noble Bank) - who gained a few giggles from the audience after sharing a few of his experiences. Mr Robert Raszczyk (BZ WBK Brokerage) then brought some controversy to the Roundtable, encouraging a dynamic debate between the panellists, who each represented various sectors of the market, hence able to offer varying experiences and points of view.
The afternoon session was opened by our co-hosts, Sebastian Siewiera (Warsaw Stock Exchange) who introduced their new UTP-W trading platform available from 2nd November 2012. Bahram Sadighian (iShares, BlackRock) continued to discuss new developments and trends within the ETF industry; followed by well-timed comparitive presentation by Stefan Neubauer (Raiffeisen Centrobank AG) who used football in light of the Euro 2012 to illustrate market developments.
The final section of the day included presentations from Nicholas Soerensen (Deutsche Bank Luxembourg) and Tim Mortimer (FVC) who highlighted the importance of education, research and analysis in product selection and distribution. The event closed with a final Roundtable chaired by the excellent Eric Greschner (Your Financial Coaches, United States of America), whose contagious enthusiasm and passion was transferred to all; ensuring the day ended on a lively high, with the audience and panellists alike sharing their individual personal experiences and anecdotes.
The day concluded with a cocktail reception hosted downstairs allowing all guests the opportunity to relax and network, whilst enjoying a selection of wine, beer and canapés.
