CEE Structured Products 2011
Taking place in the excellent facilities of the InterContinental hotel in Warsaw, the event promoted heated debate surrounding the future potential of Structured Products in Poland and CEE. With detailed review of regulation and the effects of regulatory change, listed structured products, how to structure a product, enhancing the sellers relationship with clients, as well as two focused workshops on portfolio building and pricing.
Chaired by Mr Robert Raszczyk (BZ WBK Brokerage) and opened by Prof. Krzystof Jajuga (Wroclaw University), the event moved swiftly onto a regulatory review of Poland and CEE from Mr Grzegorz Namiotkiewicz (Clifford Chance). Setting the tone, a panel discussion on regulation was next, with strong contributions from Mr Jean-Marc Spitalier (UniCredit), Dr Armin Kammel (VOIG) and Ms Carine Delfrayssi (French Asset Management Association).
Mr Stefan Neubauer (RCB) provided a detailed insight into listed structured products, comparing Poland and CEE to Austria and Germany, continuing the discussion through to the following panel, which highlighted the demand for listed products in Poland and CEE, which was chaired by Mr Raszczyk with expert contributions from the WSE, Open Finance, Investkredit Volksbank Bank and Wroclaw University of Economics. Lunch soon followed giving the attendees the chance to network in the exhibition area, with stands provided by Scoach, S&P and Modelity.
The afternoon session started with a detailed analysis of how to structure a product taught by Dr Heinz Kubli (Fundabilis and Swiss Derivative Institute), this was followed by an insight into enhancing the sellers relationship with the end user by Mr Ayal Leibowitz (Modelity). An expert panel led by Mr Jan Scibor-Kaminski (Structured Retail Products) discussed maximising sales and meeting client demands, contributions from Mr Daryl French (CIB IB), Mr Piotr Minkina (PKO BP), Mr Maciej Kossowski (Wealth Solutions) and Mr Piotr Bulkowski (Citi Handlowy) enabled a free-flowing and informative panel discussion.
The conference session ended with another chance to network and exchange business cards in the exhibition area with a chocolate fountain and a selection of exotic fruits.
The final afternoon session was divided into two workshop sessions, Portfolio Building; initiated with a detailed presentation from Mr Antoni Leonik (HSBC) and then led by Mr Kubli with contributions from Prof. Jajuga. The other workshop focused on Pricing and was led jointly by Mr Luigi Cefis and Mr Alessandro Intravala (Intesa SanPaolo).
This excellent event closed with a cocktail reception and final chance to network with our international delegation, including delegates from Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, BNP Paribas, PZU, Nomura, Naxitis, Credit Suisse, Citi Group, ING and many more.
