European Telecoms Investment Forum 2011: 27-28 January, Vienna
Mr Dejan Ljustina (Deloitte) opened the event, followed by Bankability of Telecoms in CEE from Ms Sarita Jha and Mr Paul Drazdil (UniCredit Bank AG).
Mr Adrian Whitchurch (BT Group) provided a provoking presentation on Competition & Investment in NGA, which highlighted the UK experience-lessons learned and where we go next, followed by CEE Business Focus in Fibre Networks by Mr Hartwig Tauber (FTTH Council Europe).
Mr Dejan Ljustina (Deloitte), Mr Hartwig Tauber (FTTH Council Europe), Mr Adrian Whitchurch (BT Group), Mr Jaap Truijens (EuroFiber) and Mr Pavel Gulas (Slovak Telecom) joined panellists in debating the importance of the future of FTTx connectivity, and the need for development of software and network systems for greater efficiency.
A review of hybrid solutions via satellite in next generation networks was provided by Mr Christof Kern (SES Astra), following Mr Christian Schaumann (T-Mobile) presentation on Mobile Technology Focus. . Dr Thomas Kallstenius (Alcatel Lucent) provided an in-depth analysis of the development technology - from video to immersive communication.
The impact of regulation and the new EU framework on investment in NGN was presented by Dr Ernst-Olav Ruhle (SBR Juconomy Consulting). A panel discussion on the M & A in CSEE telecoms sector was next, with strong contributions from Dr Ernst-Olav Ruhle, Mr Thomas Wilfling (AXA PE), Mr Florian Potyka( UniCredit Bank AG), Mr Phillipe Defraigne (Cullen International) and Mr Andras Puskas (Raiffeissen Investment AG.)
Offering a Next Generation Solutions & CSEE Potential, day 2 reviewed the Smart partnership models for next generation broadband networks, as well as a discussion of the Next Generation IP World. Mr Michael Rees (GTS Central Europe) and Mr Johan Karlsson (Nokia Siemens Networks) then provided a detailed insight into the Market Consolidation and Future Growth Sectors, highlighting specific opportunities in CEE and SEE.
