SEE Cloud Computing Forum 2015

The inaugural Southeast Europe Cloud Computing Forum took place in the Sheraton Zagreb Hotel on February 26th. A sincere gratitude of thanks goes out to all of our sponsors: Cisco, Huawei (Gold Sponsors), Hrvatski Telekom (Silver Sponsor), IBM, Hewlett-Packard (Bronze Sponsors) and Altus IT (Exhibitor). With over 100 participants, the event united cloud computing providers; IT partners telecom operators and businesses across the region and beyond. The conference discussed and tackled key issues with the adoption of cloud in SEE such as privacy and data security concerns.

After an introduction to the forum by the conference chairman Mr Nemanja Miliovic (IT Cluster Circle, Serbia), the first feature presentation was provided by Goran Car (Combis, Croatia) who showcased cloud computing trends and forecasts for 2015 and beyond whilst presenting ComCloud solution. This was followed by Dr Tobias Hollwarth (Eurocloud, Austria) who gave a very engaging presentation on Cloud and EU Regulation and emphasised the offerings of Eurocloud. Providing a legal perspective, Hristro Nihrizov (Dimitrov, Petrov & Co., Bulgaria) presented on the legal challenges of cloud computing.  The session was then closed with a very interactive and insightful roundtable discussion on data protection and security in the cloud.

After the opportunity to network during the first coffee break, the session commenced with a passionate presentation from Peter Hadju (Cisco, Hungary) on Cisco Intercloud strategy and why it would serve well to bet on Cisco.  This was followed by a presentation by Tomislav Kosanovic (Hrvatski Telekom, Croatia) about Cloud Self-Service Network Virtualization. Bernard Grum (IBM, Slovenia) then closed the session with an interesting presentation on Telcos as Cloud providers. Delegates then had the chance to have a networking business lunch.

The flow of presentations then continued with Berislav Biocic (Hewlett-Packard, Croatia) giving a passionate presentation on why Hybrid cloud is the future. Shahar Raz then followed, sharing a great insight on the elasticity of the cloud. Pietro Hagemann (Huawei, Germany) then rounded up the presentations with an interesting presentation on Huawei IT Transformation and Cloud Services Framework.

The day ended with two simultaneous interactive panel discussions. The first roundtable discussed business in the cloud, whether it is a necessity or an opportunity. The latter was an equally stimulating roundtable on how to earn money from the cloud.

After the chairman’s closing remarks, the delegates finally had the opportunity to relax over a glass of wine.

More information of conference documentation and event photos will come up soon.
