2nd SEE Cloud Computing Forum 2016
The 2nd Annual SEE Cloud Computing Forum 2016 took place with great success at the 5* Zagreb Sheraton Hotel in Croatia. With over 80 registered delegates this year’s event built upon the success of the past conference. The sponsors this year include: IBM and CMS.
The conference began with an opening address by the Chairperson, Bostjan Makarovic, Founder (Aphaia). This was followed by a joint presentation lead by Kresimir Kristic, President (EuroCloud) and Patricio Marcos Pettric (Croatian Data Protection Agency). Following this, the morning session was wrapped up with the two detailed presentations by HAKOM and Aphaia. After a refreshing networking coffee break the participates returned and got the chance to listen to an intensive presentation given by Matjaz Drev, State supervisor for Personal Data Protection (Information Commissioner of the Republic of Slovenia). The stage was then left to a panel discussion moderated by Marija Zrno, Attorney-at-Law, Odvjetnicko drustvo Bardek, Lisac, Musec, Skoko in cooperation with CMS. Panellists were from HAKOM, EuroCloud and IT Cluster Circle.
After a well-deserved networking lunch break, Florin Manaila, Senior IT Architect, IBM delivered a very interested presentation on Hybrid Cloud Computing – 2020 Perspectives and Beyond. Following this, Mladen Maras (Combis) informed participants about Big data usage and trends in the SEE region. The panel discussion on the future of cloud (what will cloud mean in the next 10 years) also provided a detailed insight into challenges and opportunities for the sector in the coming years and included expert names such as, Hrvatski Telekom, DataCross Data Center, IBM and moderated by Aphaia.
Returning from the afternoon coffee break all participants were enagaged in a lively presentation offered by Ivan Cacija, CTO (FastSRV,eu). This was followed by the final presentation of the whle conference presented by Shahar Raz, General Manager, Raz Technology Services. The final panel discussion of the day featured leading names such as SAP, Hitachi Systems, VMWARE and Raz Technology Services which analyzed the important case of ‘the best practices to choose the right cloud provider’.
