8th Turkey Energy Forum 2016

The successful 8th edition of our renowned Turkey Energy Forum 2016 sponsored by Turkey's Isbank took place at the Movenpick Hotel in Istanbul. We give special thanks to all participants for making this event a great success.

 

The conference opened with an opening speech by our conference Chairperson, Leland Rice, Editor-in-Chief, The Business Year. The Energy sector was discussed in great detail from a financing perspective by our Sponsor Turkiye Is Bankasi.  Many leading speakers from KPMG, Siemens, EBRD, EPPAM Aydin University and KfW-IPEX Bank took place on the panel discussion on energy consumption and the opportunities to provide new energy investments.  The government plans for investors was discussed by Onur Okutur, KPMG in detail. With a short coffee break participants returned to the conference salon and listened to the join-presentation by Yalcin Babalioglu Boso (YBB) a representative office of CMS in Turkey. This was followed by an informative presentation on a local investors point-of-view on privitizations and alternative approaches by Taylan Onerci of GAMA Enerji.  The morning session ended with a networking lunch break where all participants had the chance to mingle. 

Elchin Ibadov, STAR refinery CFO, SOCAR opened the afternoon session with the updates on the project and future plans.  This was followed by a panel discussion with representatives from Limak Enerji, EWE Holding, Natixis, IFC and A.T . Kearney Management Consultancy. 

The GAS- Supply & storage session panel discussion informed participants in an engaging discussion about upcoming natural Gas regulations and requirements. Panellist David Tonge, Director of IBS Research and consultancy and GAMA Enerji's Taylan Onerci continued an intensive discussion which attracted much attention from the audience.  

The last session of the day focused on Renewable Energy & energy efficiency. It was opened with a presentation from Nazife Ece UNDP-GEF and left the stage to Burak Elibol, Partner of BE Energy who gave a presentation on Renewable sector opportunities in not just Turkey but also MENA regions. 

This was followed by the last panel discussion of the day which was led by UNDP's Nazife Ece and fellow panellists from Belectric Kuloglu, MWH Holding Turkey, ABP Energy and Parsons Brinckerhoff. The long anticipated drinks reception began with the closing remarks made by the conference Chairperson Leland Rice, editor-in-Chief, The Business Year.
